A Letter from Our President

Hi Guys!

My name is Kori Hardman and I am the current president of the Panhellenic Association at UMBC!

As a rising senior it feels like just yesterday that I was wandering around the RAC at involvement fest, trying to get the courage up to talk to the girls in PHA. Looking back now at all the memories that I’ve made, I’m so happy that I did.

I have PHA to thank for so much of the happiness, friendship and leadership skills I have gained over the past few years. If you would have told an eighteen year old me that I would even think about leading a student organization like this one, I would have laughed in your face, but PHA has helped build my confidence and leadership skills in ways that I never thought possible.

I am so passionate about PHA because of how widespread the support system can become if you open your arms to it.

When you join a sorority on campus you not only gain sisters in your own chapter but across all five of our amazing chapters: Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Kappa, Delta Phi Epsilon, Phi Mu and Phi Sigma Sigma.

Although this was something I didn’t initially realize when I first rushed, it is one of the most important aspects of greek life to me. I don’t know what I would do without the sisterhood I’ve fostered through becoming friends with girls in each chapter.

Diversity within these organizations as well as across the council is another thing that drew me towards rushing PHA here at UMBC. There’s no such thing as a stereotypical sorority girl here. It makes me feel doubly as proud to be part of an organization that works hard to defy the outdated idea of what a sorority woman is. Sorority women are strong, hardworking, and diverse individuals who are constantly striving to be the best version of themselves.
